Create "Global" Hotkey for entering tasks while working in other programs
While doing a task in another program, i'd like a way create tasks in Get it Done. Currently, I have to open the website, move to my iPad/iPhone etc to enter the task. I'd like to hit some key combination, have the edit task entry screen appear (similar to hitting "+" or "=" in the web application), enter my data, save and move on. The purpose of this is to be able to capture items when they shoot into my mind.
My music player has a feature where I can assign "global" hot keys so I can start and stop…

Ability to apply "Someday" to an entire project
This is a feature available in "Things 2" - the ability to mark a project (with tasks) - as 'someday'. This useful for capturing/brain dumping initial thoughts for something you want to do at a later date.

Search Evernote to add Attachments to Tasks
It would be very useful to have the ability to search Evernote when adding an Evernote note as an attachment to a task. At the moment you have to scroll thru the notes by notebook and hope to find what you are looking for. I am not sure if this functionality is present for Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, or OneDrive.

Assigning Project To Task: Type / Search Instead Of Scrolling For Project
I have a lot of projects and even by assigning them to more areas, I find that it would be easier and quicker to use if, instead of scrolling through the projects (when adding a task via 'add task') if I could start typing the project name and it would show up. A little like when you start typing a search in Google, it provides suggestions. Evernote's search do it now too. That would be super cool. :0)

In the "Scheduled" view, and the date tag for the repeat items also
When you schedule a task for review, you can see the date that task will be brought to you attention in a tag at the left of its name.
However, if you set a recurring task you don't have a way to know easily when is it going to repeat, especially for "repeat after completion" tasks.

Colour-Coded Tags
Been an avid user of Todoist with coloured Tags, and currently trialling GID.
Being a visual person I really miss Coloured Tags. When you have multiple Tags on a single task, having the ability to see at a glance with colour-coding really helps6 votes -
Ability to view All Tasks in an Area
I’d like to be able to view all of my tasks (inbox+today+next+scheduled+someday) in an Area so that I can get a single view of the big picture to allocate my time accordingly.
We can do this for Projects, which is great, but not enough for planning. For example, I might have 3 or 4 projects at once for my business - all of which are equally important (e.g., a customer project + an upcoming presentation + administrative tasks like taxes). I love Projects to let me focus on 1 area at a time. However, if I’m never able to see…

Add sorting by Project within a category.
If this is already there, I do not see it. I manage multiple projects within multiple categories. However when I am in a specific category I want to be focusing on the top priority for that day or time. I would like for Projects to be movable with in the list of my projects. Basically allow for sorting of projects. If this is already a capability please let me know. I know we can do it with tasks.

Convert a task into project - in one step
This is a feature available in 'Things 2' - the ability to turn a task into a project with a single 'drag and drop'. For those times when you've created a task - and then realised that it needs to be broken down into several steps (ie, the task is actually a 'project'). This happens to me all the time...

Sync different Area tasks to different Calendars
I don't want to see work tasks in my home calendar. Could each area have its own calendar url so Home area syncs with personal email and Work area syncs with work email.

I would like to associate my Smart Groups with a specific Area
Currently, I can see every Smart Group no matter what Area I have selected. Ideally, If i wanted to see all of my Smart Groups I could just go to All Areas and they would be there. I would like to associate my Smart Groups with specific Areas so that I only see those Smart Groups when I have that specific Area Selected.

group tasks by project in focus views
My Today and Next views can become confusing. Some tasks look very similar (eg validate invoice, budget status) and only make sense when I know which project they are in.
I would like to be able to group tasks by project, just like the way project views groups tasks by focus.
Alternatively, displaying the project name on the task line would be fine.
